Boheme Opera NJ has a nearly 40-year history of bringing performing arts excellence to the main stage and the community, including adult and youth educational outreach. As Boheme Opera’s Director of Marketing, I develop, drive and execute the company’s on- and off-stage marketing and communications efforts for web, social, print and broadcast
New website launch
Boheme Opera NJ needed a new website with a unified brand and user experience. The goal was for visitors to quickly and easily find or do what they wanted: information on an event, purchase tickets, make a donation - but also give them a reason to stay and do more. The content - and the site - was designed to encourage visitors to take advantage of virtual event experiences, become involved with the company’s guild and go for a deeper dive into Boheme Opera’s mission and history.
Main stage event promotion
Boheme Opera NJ produces two fully staged productions each season that require multi-tiered, integrated marketing and PR promotion, including website and social content, print advertising, press releases and onsite event materials.
My job is to:
Build and execute against an annual marcom calendar within the company’s budget
Partner with the company’s Marketing and Artistic Directors to ensure their visions are expressed
Develop eye-catching, sticky website content that drives ticket sales, sponsorships and donations
Create engaging social media, email, newspaper and leave-behind print material campaigns
Write and distribute press releases, advertorials and other PR pieces to gain event media coverage and reviews
Manage vendor relationships - printer, magazine/newspaper reps, social media website partners and others
Fundraising event promotion
Fundraising events are critical to the company’s financial stability - and artistic and educational excellence. The annual gala is always the premier fundraiser of the season, with smaller, more intimate gatherings for potential donors and sponsors throughout the year. Galas are typically themed on the season’s largest main stage production, while small, one-offs are based on each event’s unique programming.
My job is to:
Develop the theme and imagery that serve as the basis for all promotional and event content
Create website, social media, email and print content
Write and distribute press releases
Serve as marketing representative on event committees helping to coordinate all pre-event activities, including sponsor, donor and silent auction solicitation, event location evaluation, menus and others
Assist with and/or direct day-of-event setup, supporting the managing director with event execution and logistics
Community event promotion
Boheme Opera NJ’s artistic endeavors are not confined to the main stage. The company brings opera to the community through its Boheme Opera NJ at Monroe Township Library edutainment series and other local events.
My job is to:
Develop marketing content for all mediums around the theme of each event (determined by the company’s board president and artistic staff)
Coordinate with the managing director on email and social media promotion and outreach efforts
